Not only is Kennecott Eagle staff involved in the community at a personal level (United Way, Boy Scouts, youth
soccer leagues), but they know their success with the Eagle Project depends on maintaining a good relationship with
the community at a corporate level. Therefore, a variety of opportunities continue to be made to ensure public
involvement in project.
Community Advisory Group
A Community Advisory Group (CAG) comprised of representatives from across the business, civic, governmental and
environmental communities has been actively engaged in the project, providing a critical liaison role aimed at
sharing information and providing input into the design process. The CAG, and others, have been integral to site
reclamation planning.
A series of informational advertisements was developed beginning in early 2005 with WLUC TV
to help provide the community with important facts and information about Kennecott’s proposal.
This campaign, along with periodic newsletters and frequent personal appearances by project
leaders throughout the community work together to ensure timely and accurate project updates
are provided to all area residents and key stakeholders.
